Saratoga climbs in state rankings

The Saratoga girls soccer team is continuing to climb in the New York State Class AA poll. The Blue Streaks are sixth in the latest rankings, which were released Wednesday.

Saratoga suffered just its second loss of the season on Tuesday night, falling, 1-0, to Burnt Hills, which is ranked No. 4 in Class A. The Blue Streaks and Spartans, along with Niskayuna, are Suburban Council teams ranked in their respective classes.

The Shenendehowa football team climbed one spot in the Class AA football poll, to No. 5. The unbeaten Plainsmen (6-0) face Saratoga this Friday in the homecoming game for the Blue Streaks. Burnt Hills has climbed to No. 18 in the Class A rankings. The Spartans have advanced to the Class A semifinals at the Carrier Dome in two of the last three years.
