Northeast Kidney Foundation Tailgate Party
On Friday, Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. the Northeast Kidney Foundation (NeKF) will join local equestrian Colleen Cunningham and hall of fame jockey Randy Romero at the Saratoga Polo Association for the Saratoga Polo Tailgating party. An entry fee of $10 will be donated to NeKF to help raise funds for the fight against kidney disease. Colleen and Randy will team up to judge each Saratoga Polo tailgate, with the theme this year being Health and Horses. At the Tailgate Party, the crowd and judges are expected to see Saratogians decorate their spaces with tables, wine glasses and unique decor.
Colleen Cunningham is a junior at Saratoga High School and an avid equestrian who was born with a kidney issue that surfaced only a bit more than a year ago. She underwent corrective surgery and is so inspired to give something back that she immediately started raising funds and awareness for the local Northeast Kidney Foundation. She recently teamed up with famous hall of fame jockey Randy Romero, himself a dialysis patient, to reach out within the racing community. Together they have joined forces to continue Colleen and her mother Jill’s efforts to help raise funds for the fight against kidney disease.
The tailgate will kick off a weekend series of events involving Romero and Colleen. On Sunday, Aug. 21, Colleen and her mother will co-chair Catwalk for Kidneys, a brunch and fashion show at the Gideon Putnam Resort, in which Romero and additional celebrities will walk the runway. There will be a special race in honor of Randy’s involvement at the Saratoga Flat Track following the Catwalk event. Set to go off at 2 p.m., it will be called Randy's Race for Kidney Health.
