Nearly 1 in 6 Burnt Hills students are pumped up for Saturday sports

Number of Spartans competing Saturday
If you were to go to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School today and randomly pull six kids aside (go
ahead I'll wait) .... there's a good chance at least one of them will be competing for a Section II, regional or state championship on Saturday.
That's because the Spartans have three boys sports (football, cross country and volleyall) and five girls sports (soccer, cross country, swimming, volleyball and field hockey) alive in various stages of postseason competition.
That accounts for 133 students competing out of a total student body of 841 according to Section II — or nearly 16 percent of all students.
That figure is kind of stunning considering how many teams needed to win sectionals to still be playing (girls soccer, boys cross country, boys and girls volleyball and field hockey) and the scheduling coincidence of all events happening on the same day. When you add up student managers, JV players and friends also traveling to these events, that's a lot of Spartan pride being spread out across New York State Saturday.
Burnt Hills junior Meghan Malone is one of 133 students competing for Burnt Hills Saturday.
