George J. Dennis Memorial Golf Tournament, Monday August 8
The Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York and Event Chairs Erinn and Dean Kolligian of McGregor Links Country Club have announced that Sean “The Beast” Fister will make his first visit to the Capital Region. The golf legend and World Long Drive Champion will participate in a charity golf tournament that will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and honor Catherine Dennis, who was lost to Alzheimer’s and was a former Wolfert’s Roost Country Club Champion, while also shooting a 79 at McGregor as a 79-year-old. The Tournament will be held Monday, August 8, 2011 at McGregor Links Country Club.
Raising over $750,000 since its inception, 100 percent of the funds raised by the tournament will support the programs and services offered locally.
Sean Fister has the distinction as the first professional long driver to break the 400 yard barrier in the final round of the World Long Drive Championships at 406 yards and five inches in 1997. He was also the first Long Drive member to qualify for both the Open and Senior divisions in the world championships.
Golf pricing, which includes lunch and dinner, is $200 per golfer and $800 per foursome. Dinner alone is $100.
