Extra points about athletes of the week Oppenheim and Welcome

Girls Athlete of the Week

Margaret Oppenheim
Saratoga Springs senior Margaret Oppenheim has been a fixture on the girls tennis team for the past four years but that is not her only after school activity. She is also involved with National Honor Society, a program that requires her to do volunteer work.
"I volunteer a lot through the school," Oppenheim said. "We helped out at the Melanie O'Donnel 5K which was in late September."
The senior knows her next step is college but hasn't decided which one she will attend yet.
"I'm still looking," Oppenheim said of her college choice. "I would like to pursue a career in health sciences so I'm assuming I'll have to do graduate school to obtain a degree."

 Boys Athlete of the Week

Drew Welcome
Saratoga Catholic freshman golfer Drew Welcome took the Western Athletic Conference by storm this season by helping his team to a 14-2 record and winning the year-end league tournament. Welcome shot a 5-over 77 to claim the WAC tournament at Stadium Golf Club.
Golf is not Welcome's only passion, however. The freshman also plays JV basketball and baseball for the Saints.
"I like getting options to choose from and being able to do it even if you're not the greatest," Welcome said of being on three sports teams. "I like playing a lot of sports."
Welcome also races sailboats with his father on Saratoga Lake during the summer.
